BNTU Hosts 7th TechnoIntellect

On March 15-17, 2016 the Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU) has hosted the 7th National Contest in Science and Technology for High-School and College Students TechnoIntellect. TechnoIntellect is a multifaceted event featuring young Belarusians' intellectual and creative capacities as well as their diverse interests and achievements in science, technology, and architecture. The Forum is aimed at articulating the prospects for developing youth innovative projects and author's programs within the framework of the integrated educational, scientific, and technological space of the Republic of Belarus.

The Event has been organized by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, National Centre for Technical Creativity, and the BNTU Institute of Integrated Forms of Training and Monitoring of Education. Conscious of the role of talented youth in technological advancement, some of the leading Belarusian enterprises and reputable public organizations have also sponsored the Event. Among them are, "Beltelekom", OJSC "Glasswork Neman", The National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus, The Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War, etc.

The Contest has united over 200 gifted students aged 14-18 from all the Belarusian regions and Minsk:

  • Brest Region Team;
  • Grodno Region Team;
  • Vitebsk Region Team;
  • Mogilev Region Team;
  • Gomel Region Team;
  • Minsk Region Team;
  • Minsk City Team;
  • BNTU Lyceum Team;
  • Team of the National Centre for Technical Creativity.

These youngsters can be rightfully called "top young talents", as they already proved their abilities in numerous regional and national competitions and contests.

The Technical Exhibition held within the framework of the Contest has featured a great array of the participants’ technical developments ranging from models of ships and automobiles to energy-saving devices and equipment facilitating various human activities. The youngsters talented in visual arts have also had a marvelous opportunity to present their works at the Exhibition. The BNTU students have presented their projects along with the participants, which reflects the continuity of generations among students of different levels.

The participants have competed in various fields of technology, such as energy development and electrical engineering, robotics, automatics and intellectual systems, information systems and technologies, aerospace technologies, painting, drawing, etc. On the concluding day, the Team Leaders have been invited to take part in the round table discussion on promoting creative approach to science and technology among students. The contest participants have also visited master classes in their field of interest led by distinguished Belarusian scholars, inventors, and professors. At the closing ceremony, the Honored Jury has awarded the winners TechnoIntellect Certificates and memorable gifts.

This year’s Contest has made a large-scale event aimed at youngsters’ comprehensive development. Apart from participating in intense competitions and research-related activities, the participants have visited most spectacular National museums - National Art Museum and new Great Patriotic War Museum. The students have got a wonderful opportunity to broaden their cultural horizons and enjoy these artistic and historical treasuries.
