On June 2-6, 2014 the Dutch city of Maastricht has hosted the FISITA 2014 World Automotive Congress. The Event has been organized by KIVI, the Royal Dutch Society of engineers.

International Federation of Automotive Engineering Societies (FISITA) is the umbrella organization for the national automotive societies around the world. FISITA membership numbers over 190,000 automotive engineers from all across the globe. FISITA's aim is to provide a forum for dialogue amongst these engineers, as well as industry, government, academia, environmental and standards organizations. For over 60 years, FISITA has showcased breakthrough technologies and tendencies shaping the development of automotive industry.

This year's Congress has united over 1000 engineers from 44 countries, basically the Netherlands, Germany, China, Japan, South Korea, and Belgium. The Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU) has represented our country at this key event of the world's automotive community. Dr. Bakhanovich A.G., Dean of the BNTU Automotive and Tractor Faculty, and Dr. Kharitonchik S.V., Dean of the BNTU Mechanical Engineering Faculty, have participated in the work of the Congress.

The Congress has featured burning issues of automotive industry, such as the ways to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, and user-friendly automated diriving systems providing road safety. Dr. Kharitonchik S.V. has participated in the presentation within the Section "Vehicle dynamics and chassis CAE".

European technical universities have actively presented their products at the Congress Exhibition. The Exhibition has showcased driver-free cars, autonomous robots, electric cars, and sport cars.

The BNTU representatives have also participated in The FISITA Educators Seminar held within the framework of the Congress. The Seminar has addressed important questions in engineering education and covered the latest trends and developments from both education and industry perspectives. The BNTU delegates have successfully discussed cooperation prospects with the participants from The Association of Automotive Technical Societies in Finland (SALT), University of West Bohemia (ZČU, Czech Republic), Graz University of Technology (TU Graz, Austria), and Austrian Society of Automobile Engineers (ÖVK).

Participating in such high-profile events, The BNTU lives up to its status of the country's leading technical university.
