THE FIRST UNION STATE FORUM OF ENGINEERING AND
TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITIES
MAY 21 – 26, 2012 * MINSK * REPUBLIC OF BELARUS
From May 21 to May 26, 2012 the Belarussian National Technical University hosted the First Union State Forum of Engineering and Technological Universities.
The Forum was organized by the Belarussian National Technical University and MATI - Russian State Technological University (Moscow, Russia).
Purpose of the Forum was to present and assess educational, research, technical and innovation potentials of engineering and technological universities of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus and promote mutually beneficial cooperation between both countries through creation of joint educational, innovation, scientific and technology infrastructure.
The Forum was supported by the Standing Committee of the Union State, the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus (SCST), the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo), the Commission for Modernization and Technological Development of Russia's Economy, the Financial and Banking Council of CIS, the Business Center for the Economic Development of the CIS.
The Forum has determined the following targets for Russian and Belarusian engineering and technological higher education institutions, namely:
- in the academic sphere:
- presentation of modern methodology and methods for training, qualification improvement and re-training of engineering personnel in Russia and Belarus;
- discussion of issues pertaining to training of specialists for new specialties required by the Union State of Russia and Belarus;
- HEI potential and development of up-to-date forms and methods for organization of educational process.
- in the research sphere:
- scientific integration of engineering and technological higher education institutions of Russia and Belarus and execution of joint research investigations by HEI partners of both countries;
- consideration of peculiar and specific features pertaining to execution and financing of research investigations in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus;
- formation of main directions of scientific research projects with due account of their significance for the economy of the Union State;
- presentation and formation of joint scientific research projects of engineering and technological higher education institutions of the Union State;
- presentation of scientific ideas and projects of young scientists representing universities of the Union State of Russia and Belarus;
- in the innovation sphere:
- presentation of innovation projects of engineering and technological higher education institutions of Russia and Belarus directed on modernization of existing enterprises and setting-up new ones and organization of manufacturing process for the given product on the territory of country-partners;
- expansion of the market consuming HEIs’ innovation products of the Union State of Russia and Belarus and organization and setting-up of new enterprises and manufacturing processes for the given products on the territory of country-partners;
- consideration of issues pertaining to peculiar and specific features of the Russian and Belarusian legislation in the field of intellectual property management;
- exchange of experience pertaining to creation and organization of innovative infrastructure of both countries: concept, legislation, financing, organizational structure;
- submission of proposals pertaining to formation of joint innovative infrastructure of engineering and technological higher education institutions in the Union State.
