On September 3-8, 2016 Cholpon-Ata (Kyrgyz Republic) has hosted World Nomad Games, an international sports event promoting ethnic sports known in Central Asia. This year's Games have united athletes from over 40 countries competing in 16 sports in 4 main fields: horse riding, wrestling, archery, and traditional intellectual games.
This year Alysh Wrestling World Championship has been among numerous spectacular events held within the framework of the Games. Alysh belt wrestling is an ancient Asian kind of wrestling. While alysh is a strictly Asian sport, other kinds of belt wrestling are known all over the world. Thus, the Championship has united athletes from 38 countries.
The Belarusian National Team has comprised several representatives of the Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU):
- Vladimir N. Grishchenko, Associate Professor at the BNTU Sports Department;
- Ilya Moroz, student at the BNTU Faculty of Management Technologies and Humanitarization;
- Olga Kolpakova, graduate of the BNTU Civil Engineering Faculty.
Having surpassed numerous competitors, Ilya Moroz has come 5th in the 60 kg category, and Olga Kolpakova has secured her place among the Games medalists winning the bronze in the 65 kg category.
We wholeheartedly congratulate the BNTU athletes and wish them further tremendous victories.
